A "geopark" is a type of natural park that contains multiple geological heritage sites (fossils, rocks, landforms, faults, etc.) that are particularly important, valuable, or beautiful from a scientific perspective.
We aim to revitalize local communities by utilizing the information for preserving geological heritage and promoting geoscience, as well as promoting geotourism that utilizes geological heritage as a tourist attraction.
The San'in Coast Geopark, certified as a UNESCO Global Geopark, is made up of Kyotango City (Kyoto Prefecture), Toyooka City, Kami Town, and Shinonsen Town (Hyogo Prefecture), and Iwami Town and Tottori City (Tottori Prefecture).
It covers a vast area of approximately 3 km from east to west, spanning three prefectures and six cities and towns, with an area of 6 square meters.
This is a valuable coastline where you can see the evolution of the Japanese archipelago from the rocks that formed when the archipelago was part of the Asian continent to the present day.
Convenient bicycles can be rented from the station. There are various courses to enjoy the sea, mountains, and cityscape.
If you want to have an active and fun time, we recommend a guided tour!
Spring is the season when you feel the warmth of the sunshine and the light breeze on your skin, making you want to go out somewhere.
