The New Tale of Zatoichi: The Broken Cane

Both of my hands are crushed and I can't hold the hidden staff!
How will Zatoichi fight the approaching yakuza?

An old woman falls to her death right in front of Zatoichi. Ichi comes to the entertainment district of Choshi to give the woman's shamisen, a keepsake, to her daughter. The daughter is a prostitute. Ichi buys her on behalf of the old woman and they begin living together. Kagiya Mangoro, who controls the area, is tying up fishermen for debts and trying to take the port for himself. When Mangoro learns that there is a 100 ryo bounty on Ichi, who lives with the woman, he tries to kill her! This is the first film in the series directed by Katsu Shintaro and features impressive, brilliant camerawork.
