When the ninth door opens, the soldier returns to "humanity". "Symphony No. 9, Ode to Joy". It is the thunder of the heart of the musical genius Beethoven, who cried out "through suffering to joy!", a noble and eternal hymn that unites all people as brothers, and a triumphant song of the strong people.
Set in the Bando POW camp in Naruto, Tokushima Prefecture during World War I, this moving masterpiece is based on the miraculous true story of how, under the guidance of the camp director, Matsue Toyohisa, who was a soldier but steadfast in his belief in freedom and equality in life, German prisoners of war deepened cultural and technical exchanges with the camp staff and local people, and became the first in Japan to perform Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, Ode to Joy.
