Set in the turbulent eras of the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa periods, this human drama is the film adaptation of Naoki Hyakuta's novel, which is based on a true story, and stars Okada Junichi, depicting a man who accomplishes great feats with his bold ideas and drive.
Directed by Takashi Yamazaki, director of "Always: Sunset on Third Street" and "Eternal Zero." This work uses VFX to realistically depict each era.

Takashi Yamazaki
Born in Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture. He was strongly influenced by "Star Wars" and "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," and decided to pursue a career in special effects. After graduating from Asagaya Art College, he joined Shirogumi, a video production company that specializes in animation and VFX, and was in charge of digital compositing on "The Great Sick" (93) and "The Quiet Life" (95). In 00, he made his directorial debut with "Juvenile," and his sequel "Returner" (02) attracted attention for its VFX-packed images. In "Always: Sunset on Third Street" (05), he used CG to beautifully recreate the Showa era townscape, winning 16 awards at the Japan Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, and the sequels "Always: Sunset on Third Street 07" (64) and "Always: Sunset on Third Street '12" (10) were also huge hits. Since then, he has directed "Space Battleship Yamato" (0), a live-action adaptation of the nationally popular anime "Space Battleship Yamato," "Eternal Zero" (13), a film adaptation of Naoki Hyakuta's best-selling novel, and is also set to helm the "Parasyte" two-part series (2, 14), a live-action adaptation of Hitoshi Iwaaki's popular manga. He has also demonstrated his talent in 15DCG animation, co-directing "Friends: Naki on Monster Island" (3) and "Stand by Me Doraemon" (11) with Ryuichi Yagi. (Movie.com)
