Amino Town has many shrines dedicated to Urashima Taro and Otohime, and the legends surrounding Urashima Taro remain strong. Shimako Shrine, dedicated to Urashima Taro (Urashimako*), is located on a small hill adjacent to Asamogawa Fishing Port, at the western end of Hacchohama. In addition, there is Manjohama, where Urashima Taro is said to have returned from Ryugu-jo Castle, and Fukushima Shrine, dedicated to Otohime. Fukushima, which can be seen in the distance to the left of Shimako Shrine, is said to be the place where Urashima Taro and Otohime first met. *In the "Tango no Kuni Fudoki," it is called Mizue Urashimako.
