Hole Monju
"Ana Monju" is a sea cave about 10m high. Sea caves are caves formed by wave erosion and can be found in large numbers, mainly along the coast of the Tango Peninsula, but Ana Monju is one of the largest and most famous. The Manpukuji Temple Outer Precincts Buddhist Hall, standing on the hill directly above, is called Seiryozan Kuhonji Temple and enshrines Manjusri Bodhisattva, whose principal image was once enshrined deep inside the cave. As it was located inside a rock cave, it was called "Ana Monju," or affectionately known as "Monju-san."
