Omiyame Shrine

Omiya Shrine

Omiyame Shrine

The guardian deity of matchmaking, safe childbirth, prosperity of descendants, and cultural development. The deity is the god of Amano-Uzume and the god of elegance, and the deity's statue is a seated goddess (woodcarving from the Heian period).
The approach to the shrine, which is about 150 meters long from the first torii gate to the front of the shrine, is lined with stone lanterns on both sides and has a beautiful atmosphere with rows of pine trees.
The temple grounds are designated as a Kyoto Prefecture site of ancient rituals, and two stone lanterns are designated as Important Cultural Properties by the nation.
In addition, the autumn festival of Omiyame Shrine features traditional performing arts such as Kagura, sword swinging, bamboo music, and Sanbaso, and is designated as an intangible folk cultural property of Kyoto Prefecture.

The "hato mikuji" fortune telling, in which birds bring luck, is popular.
