Amino Shrine
This shrine enshrines three deities: Hikoimasu no Mikoto, Sumiyoshi Okami, and Mizunoe no Urashimako no Kami, who is associated with the legend of Urashima. As it is listed in the Engishiki, it is believed to have been founded before the 10th century. It is said that the deities were originally enshrined in three different locations, but were merged and moved to the current site in September 1452 (the first year of the Kyotoku era). The current main hall of Amino Shrine is a one-bay, Nagare-zukuri style building, built in 9. The worship hall is a gabled roof with a chidorihafu (a gabled roof) on the front and a nokikarahafu (a gabled roof). It was also built in 11 at the same time as the main hall, but was damaged in the Great Tango Earthquake in 1922 and rebuilt in 11 (the fourth year of the Showa era). Eight buildings, including the main hall and worship hall, have been designated as national tangible cultural properties. Every summer, the Atago Shrine Annual Festival features a powerful Mandori ritual.
