Gosho Inabahonke
The "Inaba Family, a Wealthy Merchant" in Kumihama Town has renovated the mansion of the Inaba family, who during the Edo period operated a shipping business in Kumihama, backed by the wealth they gained from producing koji, and amassed great wealth through coastal trade. The main house is 134 years old and is a nationally registered tangible cultural property. Ginmatsusha was built approximately 220 years ago, and you can enjoy freshly made botamochi, a local specialty, while admiring the charming garden. You can also experience pottery and incense making within the mansion, and souvenirs of Kyotango specialties are available for purchase. There is also a guided stroll through the castle town of Matsui Yasuyuki, the residence of the Hosokawa family (fee required).
