Uchiyamabunarin
The Uchiyama Beech Forest in Omiya Town is the largest beech forest in northern Kinki, spreading over a slope at an altitude of over 450m. It is a natural treasure trove where about 300 kinds of plants grow naturally, including beech, maple and zelkova. Beech forests in Kinki are found at altitudes of over 600m, but in Kyotango City, they grow naturally at altitudes of around 400m due to the amount of snowfall. The Uchiyama Beech, located at an altitude of 702m, just below the summit of Takayama (680m), is the largest beech tree in Kyoto Prefecture, with a trunk circumference of 3.65m at chest height, a height of 32m and an estimated age of about 350 years.
